Tourism recovering?
It is expected that international tourism arrivals will rise by 30% in 2023, although it will still not return to pre-pandemic levels.
According to the Tourism Outlook 2023 report named ‘Turbulence in the travel industry’, global tourism saw a growth of about 60% during 2022.
Before Covid-19 total arrivals stood at 1,8 billion for 2019.
Wait for 2024
In the meantime it is said that the tourism sector is not going to recover until 2024, whilst experiencing many hiccups on its way to the “good old days” for the sector.
According to this report the worldwide economic downturn, sanctions on Russia and China’s zero-Covid policy will be among the main factors weighing in on the industry.
However, international airlines are expected to return to profitability, benefitting from a growing demand.
